Aster means “star”, and so the days of autumn hereabouts are full of stars.
The ‘Honorine Jobert’ Japanese Anemone (Anemone x hybridus) is doing in the shady Back Garden. I’m a sucker for those gleaming ivory flowers with golden centers.
People have told me that I was crazy to plant Japanese Anemones (Anemone x hybrida), that I was opening my garden to an uncontrollable thug. But I did it anyway.
The name Aster comes from the Greek word for star. At this time of year, it feels like the Asters are exploding into a sort of floral supernova.
